My first attempt at homemade macarons: slightly shambolic results.

i used this recipe, which seemed relatively simple compared to some i've read.
Macarons are notoriously tricky and there are many tips and tales floating around about how to make the perfect batch. i clearly adhered to none of them.
These tasted really good, served with a scraping of strawberry jam, but they looked horrendous. They needed to spread out less and rise up more, but as yet i haven't figured out how to make that work.

They weren't a complete disaster for a first attempt - they were edible, at least - but i certainly need to do some more experimenting before i can start serving them to any guests!
